Fish Sauce Facts
If you’ve never added fish sauce to a recipe, it’s time to try it! Although it technically gets its flavour from fish, it adds a burst of umami flavour that’s anything but fishy. In this recipe, when combined with salty soy sauce and the sweetness of brown sugar, it gives the pork a balanced taste that you’ll crave again and again.
What is Fish Sauce Made of?
Fish sauce is made from salted anchovies or other types of fish that have been fermented for up to two years. The sauce is usually associated with Southeast Asian dishes, specifically in countries like Thailand and Vietnam. With just a few drops of this sauce, your dish can go from bland to spectacular.
